Leadership Transition Coaching

Clarity when the stakes are high.

Leadership transitions change more than a job title. They change how they think, how they are seen, how decisions are made and what is expected of them. The environment often becomes more complex, the conversations more political, and the space to think clearly, honestly and without an agenda becomes harder to protect.

Coaching provides an independent space to slow down, make sense of what is actually happening and decide what comes next.

The Approach

Space to think. Structure to act.

This is not advice, consultancy or mentoring. It is an independent thinking space where you can explore important decisions with someone who understands the environment you are operating in and has no stake in the outcome. The aim is to improve the quality of your thinking before you act, not to tell you what to do.

Leadership transitions

Supporting experienced professionals as they step into more senior roles, navigate organisational change, return to work or decide what comes next. Leadership transitions change more than a job title. They change expectations, decision making and how others see you.

Confidence and judgement

Helping leaders understand what sits beneath confidence so they can exercise sound judgement with greater clarity. The goal is not simply to appear more confident, but to think more clearly and make better decisions.

Thinking before action

Creating space to understand what is really happening before deciding what needs to change. Coaching should not rush towards solutions. It should improve the quality of thinking first.

Elizabeth Martine, leadership transition coach and senior leader in financial services

Background

Shaped by the reality of senior leadership.

I have spent more than fifteen years working alongside executive teams and boards in financial services, leading governance, organisational change and transformation. I continue to hold a senior leadership role today.

That means I understand the environment my clients are operating in: the politics, the weight of decisions and the isolation that can come with senior leadership. I bring that understanding into every coaching conversation.

Client reflections

From individuals I've worked with across senior roles in financial services.

"Working with Elizabeth gave me valuable time and space to reflect on my leadership approach, particularly my confidence when engaging with senior stakeholders and my emotional resilience. What I found most valuable was Elizabeth's structured thinking space and her coaching style. Rather than providing answers, she challenged me to find my own, which built confidence and ownership."

Head of Proposition, Savings

FTSE 250 Financial Services

"Elizabeth is an exceptional listener who creates a calm, trusted space for reflection. She allows time to fully articulate thinking, reflects back with clarity, and asks thoughtful questions that consistently translate reflection into practical action. This approach has strengthened my self-accountability and sustained my engagement throughout the coaching journey."

Head of Diversity & Inclusion

FTSE 250 Financial Services

"The coaching sessions created a valuable opportunity to reflect, which supported a more focused level of self-awareness. The sessions were thoughtful and well-structured, with questions that challenged my thinking and encouraged a different perspective. I felt comfortable being open in discussion, which is not always the case for me."

Career moments

When the role changes how leadership feels.

There are moments in a leadership career when the weight of the role shifts. Stepping onto an Executive Committee or into a significantly bigger role. Leading through a restructure or transformation you did not choose. Navigating redundancy. Returning after parental leave to find the organisation, or your own priorities, have changed. Reaching a point where you want to think carefully about what comes next.

At these moments, the usual ways of working things out stop being enough. The conversations become more political. The decisions carry more consequence. And there is often nobody left you can think openly with. I work with senior leaders and experienced professionals at exactly these points.

When Clients Talk About Confidence

Confidence comes up in almost every coaching conversation. Not always by name, but the thing it describes is almost always present. What I have noticed is that the word means very different things depending on who is using it and what they are actually dealing with.

Starting points

When people usually come to coaching.

People rarely come to coaching because everything is going well.

They come because something has shifted. A bigger role that is harder than expected. Increasing complexity and organisational politics that are difficult to navigate alone. A period of redundancy or change they did not choose. Or the quiet realisation that they are carrying more responsibility and visibility than they have ever had, and there is nobody left they can think openly with.

Most do not need advice. They need somewhere to think.

Get in touch

Leadership can be demanding.

It does not have to be something you carry alone.

If that sounds like the conversation you need, I would be glad to hear from you.
